CIA Review Course
Garland began teaching Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Review courses in 1986 when he was asked to prepare a review course for the internal audit department of Burlington Industries, Inc. in Greensboro, NC. Since that beginning, he has taught review courses and training courses for multiple internal auditors. He was invited by the Boston IIA chapter to teach a review course over three two-day weekends in the fall and spring each year.
During the seven years he taught the review course, over seven hundred (700) internal auditors passed the CIA exam. He has also taught the course for the Columbia, SC IIA chapter for twenty-eight consecutive years. During the past eight years, he has taught the review course for the Charlotte, NC IIA chapter with great success. He taught the review course for BB&T Bank as well as TIAA-CREF for their internal audit staff. Most recently he taught a very successful course for the North Carolina Office of State Budget and Management in Raleigh, NC.
The course can be offered through local chapters or it can be taught to internal audit staffs for any company. Garland provides a manual for each part of the exam which is based upon the Gleim CIA Review materials which he has used since 1986. His driving passion is assisting internal auditors reach their goal of certification which provides them with the opportunity to reach their full potential in their career.
His teaching style is intellectually engaging by helping participant understand the theory and application of internal auditing for the CIA exam instead of memorization. By understanding the material, the participant is more prepared to be successful on the exam as well as in their career.
The recommended time for each of the three parts of the CIA Exam areas follows:
|Part I||1 Full Day|
|Part II||1 Full Day|
|Part III||2 Full Days|
